Unveiling The Universe In ‘Satyarth Prakash’ By Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati

Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati : You are standing in front of a construction site and a building is being built in front of you. Someone asked you what do you need for the construction of this building? Now in common circumstances, your answer will be raw material and labor. If it is said philosophically, it is called Upadaan Kaaran and Nimitt Kaaran. Material is called Upadaan Kaaran such as cement, morang, etc. And Nimitt Kaaran is the one that posses the power Of will, strength, and so on, to help the material take the form of an object I.e. labour.

So there are two reasons behind any new creation. Nimitt Kaaran and Upadaan Kaaran Which is believed by almost all ancient Indian philosophers. And usually these two are called Brahma and Atman or Brahma and Jeev. By which the world is created. But Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati had a different opinion.

According to him, in the creation of the world, apart from Brahma and Jeev, a third reason is also required. The Sadharan kaaran [ordinary reason]. Now what is this Sadharan Kaaran? So when the building was being built, apart from raw material and labor, there is a third thing that is helpful in the construction of that building. And that is machinery. Machinery may be made by labor. But that machinery is not a building. It is an important reason for the construction of that building. And on this, no philosopher has ever talked, before Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati.
